This spring and fall, four highly respected local songwriters will perform their work and explore the nuts and bolts of its architecture. Inside the Song offers audiences insight into the unique and varied approaches these writers use create quality songs. These shows feature Harry Remer and the evening's invited guest each playing original songs. Along the way, they will also discuss the making of one of the guest’s songs—covering inspiration, process and discipline, overcoming doubt, and more—all in a spacious and attractive literary setting.
Harry Remer has been writing and performing since the 1990s. He released his second album in 2025, and he has recently been featured on WRSI/The River, Valley Free Radio, and NBC-TV in Western Massachusetts.
Lisa Bastoni was the 2019 New Folk winner at the esteemed Kerrville Folk Festival and has shared the stage with Lori McKenna, Mark Erelli, Teddy Thompson, and Larry Campbell & Teresa Williams. This summer she participated in the Arcadia Folk Festival as well.

READINGS FROM THE VIOLIN MAKER BY M. TERRILL WITH MUSICAL PERFORMANCES BY COLLEEN JENNINGS
AN EVENING OF LITERATURE & LIVE MUSIC
We are delighted to present an Evening of Literature & Live Music with local author M. Terrill & local musician Colleen Jennings.
The Violin Maker is a sweeping historical novel spanning 1693 Italy, war-torn Europe, and 1950s Manhattan, where a centuries-old secret connects the lives of master craftsmen, survivors of war, and those seeking the truth. M. Terrill’s debut is a meditation on truth, memory, and the way stories evolve over time, revealing how history can be shaped, distorted, and ultimately rediscovered.
Colleen Jennings teaches violin and coaches chamber music at the University of Massachusetts and at Greenwood Music Camp. She also teaches privately and runs a chamber music class from her home studio, Up! Music. Colleen co-founded the Arborio Duo with pianist Sophie Lippert. She is also currently a member of Baroklyn, a New York based string ensemble under the direction of pianist Simone Dinnerstein.
